Mini, stylised as MINI, is a British automotive brand founded in Oxford in 1969 and marketed by the German automotive company BMW since 2000. The word Mini was used in car model names from 1959 and became a marque in its own right in 1969, when it replaced the separate Austin Mini and Morris Mini model names. BMW acquired the brand in 1994 when it bought Rover Group.
The MINI logo is a wheel with stylised wings and the brand name in capital letters at its centre. BMW Group traces the combination of wheel and wings to the Morris logo carried by the Morris Mini-Minor in 1959.

Logo milestone · 2015-06
With the MINI Clubman premiere in Berlin, MINI introduced a flat, two-dimensional logo developed from the 3D logo, together with a new MINI Serif typeface and new visuals.[3][4]

Design context
Logo design & typography notes
BMW Group notes the similarity between the 2018 logo and the classic Mini badge of the mid-1990s, which also placed the name in capital letters in a circle with stylised wings.
From the researched record (AI-assisted source review); see research sources.
Researched typography noteThe 2015 identity introduced MINI Serif, which BMW Group describes as developed from a typeface set by hand by Swiss designers for publishing and given a modern cut.
