Logo size calculator
Choose where the logo will appear and enter its proportions. Wide placements fit the whole lockup in a box; profile pictures and icons are square canvases with the logo inside the part that survives the crop. Platform sizes change, so check the platform's current help page before a final export.
For example 3:1, 3x1 or 1200/400. A square symbol is 1:1.

How to size a logo for a placement
- Choose the placement: a website header, an email signature, a social profile, an icon set or a business card.
- Enter the logo's proportions as width:height. Measure the artwork itself, not the canvas around it.
- Choose the export scale for screens: 2× keeps the logo sharp on high-density displays.
- Export at the size shown and keep the logo inside the logo area and clear space.
Worked example: one 3:1 logo, two placements
Website header. Display size 240 × 80 px, exported at 480 × 160 px, with 20 px on each side (25% of the logo height).
Instagram profile. Canvas 320 × 320 px, square, uploaded at 640 × 640 px; the logo fits in up to 243 × 81 px, centred (486 × 162 px at 2×). A wide or tall lockup becomes small inside a circle. Use the symbol or icon on its own for this placement.

Questions about logo sizes
What size should a logo be in a website header?
This calculator fits the logo inside a 250 × 80 px box and exports it at 2× for high-density screens. A 3:1 logo is shown at 240 × 80 px and exported at 480 × 160 px. Use SVG where the site supports it, with a PNG fallback.
Why is my logo cut off in a profile picture?
Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube show profile pictures as circles, so the corners of the square upload are hidden. Keep the logo inside the logo area the calculator gives, and use the symbol on its own when the full lockup is wide or tall.
Which file format should I use?
The calculator suggests SVG with a PNG fallback for website headers, PNG for email signatures, social profiles and icon sets, and a vector PDF or EPS for print. Many email clients do not display SVG, and profile uploads expect PNG or JPEG.
Are these the official platform sizes?
No. They are working sizes for planning, and canvases marked as this tool’s suggestion are not taken from a platform specification. Platforms change their layouts, so check each platform’s current help page before a final export.
